Members of LAMBDA, along with student supporters, protest Proposition 8 during a rally on Miracle Mile. LAMDA members chant, "Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Homophobia must go!"

During Join-A-Club week at Mt. SAC, club booths were not the only associations handing out information. The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, an association not affiliated with Mt. SAC, handed out pamphlets protesting same-sex marriage.
"We're not insulting anybody," John E. Ritchie, director of TFP student action, said. "We're engaging in a public debate on same-sex marriage. The flyer takes a principle stand. We're not attacking any individual. We're expressing our ideas in a respectful way."
The TFP handed out a tri-fold pamphlet that read "10 Reasons Why Homosexual 'Marriage' is Harmful and Must be Opposed," with explanations why it is both biologically and spiritually immoral.
Ritchie also said that as a Catholic, he views same-sex marriage as a violation of God's law and common sense.
"The union between a man and a woman is fruitful," Ritchie said, "It's open to new life- that's how families are composed. Same-sex marriage is always sterile and it deprives [a child] if a same-sex couple decides to adopt a child."
The presence of the TFP on campus sparked an all-day protest between the LAMBDA club and other students who support same-sex marriage.
Skyler Robinson, 24, who double majors in animation and business management and also serves as president of LAMBDA, said, "They have their right, but it's incredibly biased and one-sided because they're presenting their ideas on God and Christianity as if their [views] are the only correct ones."
The LAMBDA club is dedicated to reducing homophobia, inequality, hate crimes, and discrimination by encouraging self-acceptance.
Members present chanted, "Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Homophobia must go!" They were also waving huge banners and the club's rainbow colored flag.
The TFP chanted the Hail Mary and other Catholic prayers.
Whitney Lawrence, 18, who has been openly gay since she was 12, said, "It pisses me off! It's the same day as club week with the gay club right across from the protesters."
Ritchie said that the TFP is currently undergoing a tour of California and has visited major cities from Santa Rosa to Bakersfield, in order to promote traditional marriage and moral values.

Kristen, if "marriage is a right ordained by God," even more reason for you to vote NO on Prop 8 because the Bill of Rights, Amendment 1, prohibits the United States Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion. (Continued…)

Lee,
It is hard to say why people are so concerned with a candidates religion, but there are many other reasons why people select a certain candidate for President; among them religion, sex, ethnicity, values, integrity, history. (Continued…)

This country was founded on Christian Beliefs and we should not let a few homosexuals change the basic foundation of this country.

Marriage is a religious practice so why would homosexuals want to participate in something religious anyways? God does not approve of homosexual relationships so they should leave Gods name out of their domestic partnership. (Continued…)

If you believe that marrage isn't such a big deal, why should gays and lesbians be denied the right to it? Homosexuals and heterosexuals are the same. (Continued…)

Marriage is a joining of two souls in the eyes of God, not by society. Marriage is a sacred bond between a MAN AND A WOMAN ONLY in the eyes of God because marriage is a bonding privilege not a RIGHT given by God. (Continued…)
