With their overwhelming 84-55 victory over Rio Hondo and their recent playoff success the Mt. SAC women's basketball team under the guidance of Head Coach Laura Beeman has received a lot of attention and due praise. "They deserve it," said Beeman about all the attention, "Last year we had a different style of team, this group has a different attitude and this group is fun to watch. Their goal is to win the championship and these ladies are willing to pay the price and practice hard."

Beeman said she has been encouraged by all the attention the team has been receiving from faculty, students and the administration. "They give so much intensity on the floor and to get that back from our home crowd is an amazing feeling. Our fans understand the game. Everyone has been so supportive."

The coach spoke about some of her most underrated stars like point guard Tonicia Tademy. "She is our silent rock period. She runs an offense better than any guard in the state. She's a very intelligent player and doesn't make mistakes and when she does make a mistake, she learns from it and doesn't make it again. She tracks down loose balls and is a physical defender. It is very difficult to press her."

Coach Beeman also had words of praise for Krystal Williams whose nickname is "K Will." "She just grinds on the court. She's a blue collar worker. She sets the great picks and gets the back steals. She's another one who's a silent leader on our team. Her work ethics are second to none."

The Mt.SAC Women's basketball team plays on Saturday at 7 P.M. at home against the College of The Canyon Cougars for a chance to advance to Fresno and play for the state championship which Mt. SAC won in the 2003-2004 season.
